TOR

The Onion Router

TOR (The Onion Router) is a network that was developed by the NAVY that might come in handy if you want your online browsing to remain anonymous. To use it all you have to do is download the TOR browser.

When making a request to a webpage using a regular browser your machine's IP address can be used to identify you. TOR prevents this from happening in two different ways. First, a random path of relays is generated for the request to travel through. Secondly, the request is encrypted before it's sent off to the entry relay.

Each relay prior to the exit relay can be trusted because they only know enough to know which node the request came from and which node to send it to.

Please note that the exit relay can see the original data sent by the client so make sure to use a site that has enabled HTTPS so that the exit relay cannot sniff the data once it exits the network.
